Running late, but here is a quick look at some of what’s going on this week:
Boulez contra Cage – 8pm at the Western Front, info here. Cage and Boulez arguing onstage! Music by the both of them, and other nifty new works…
Moonless Night – first in a series of concerts featuring the Piano/Erhu Project (PEP!)
– facebook info here: It’s at UBC, 8pm. Erhu and piano is a fascinating pairing – I was at a recent workshop and was delighted by the expressive possibilities of Erhu (you’ll find a link to the workshop video on the facebook page…)
Richter 858 – presented by Vancouver New Music, featuring Bill Frisell, at the Vancouver Playhouse tonight at 8pm, info here. Bill Frisell! Gerhard Richter! Need I say more?
Tuesday night, November 27 – Music on Main presents Linda Bouchard’s Murderous Little World. Based on the poetry of Anne Carson (I am a big fan), and with several Epitaphs for Evil…More info here. Doors at 6:30, concert at 8:00.
I wish I could hear more than two of these concerts, but I can’t! (More details about the rest of the week later on, meanwhile I must run around like the proverbial headless chicken!)
