Thursday, May 2nd, California State University – Los Angeles – Nicolas Gerpe, pianist of Panic Duo, plays Phobos and Deimos, Circling. (More info to follow, date TBC.)
Friday, May 3rd, 8:00 pm, Christ & St. Stephen’s Church, 122 W 69th St., New York, NY - The Azure Ensemble presents “Sky and Time”, a concert including music by Gabriella Smith, Alexandra du Bois, Alexandra Gardner, Stacy Garrop, and Jocelyn Morlock. Tickets $10/$5 at the door.
Sunday, May 5nd, 11:30 am, Lorne Watson Recital Hall, Brandon University – Brandon, MB Madeline Hildebrande, finalist in the E-gre competition, plays music by Randolph Peters, Jocelyn Morlock (Phobos and Deimos, Circling), Rodney Sharman, Denis Gougeon, and Samuel Barber. Thursday, May 23, 2013, 8:00 pm, Vancouver East Cultural Centre- Véronique Lacroix, conductor, and the Tempest Flute Ensemble present Les Quatres Elements, a co-production with Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, Ensemble de flûtes Alizé, and Redshift Music Society. Four new works inspired by the four elements: fire, earth, water, air. This will be the Vancouver premiere of my new piece Salamander for flute octet. Nifty excerpt here.

Sunday, May 26, 2013, 7:30 pm, Cochrane Street United Church, St. John’s, Nfld – “A Great Big Sing: QVE 20th Anniversary” – Quintessential Vocal Ensemble celebrates 20 years of choral singing at its finest, including QVE classics such as “Danny Boy” and “MLK”, “Alleluia” by Eric Whitacre, and music by Rajaton’s Jussi Chydenius and the King’s Singers. Guest performances by cellist Nathan Cook, in the powerful “Exaudi” for choir and solo cello by Canadian composer Jocelyn Morlock, and the Holy Heart Chamber Choir. Tickets $20/$18 here.

August 4, 11 am, Ottawa International Chamber music festival, Ottawa, ON – Duo Concertante — violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves — will play a concert including Bach’s sonatas 1, 3, and 4, and Jocelyn Morlock’s Petrichor.
August 23, time TBA, Indian River Festival, Indian River, PEI Duo Concertante — violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves — will play a concert including Jocelyn Morlock’s Petrichor, which was specially commissioned as a companion piece to the Bach.

Tuesday, February 12, 2013, 7:30 pm, Salle de concert du Conservatoire, Montréal – Véronique Lacroix, conductor, and Ensemble de flûtes Alizé present Les Quatres Elements, a co-production with Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, The Tempest Flute Ensemble, and Redshift Music Society. Since 1999, ECM+’s synergy with Ensemble Alizé continues to grow with this new proposition for flute octet and cello, conducted by Véronique Lacroix. Composers Jocelyn Morlock and Edward Top of Vancouver and Éric Champagne and Emily Hall of Montreal compare their metaphysical visions of the universe with four new works inspired by one of the four elements (fire-earth-water-air). With the addition of fourteen young flutists scattered around the public, Eric Champagne’s water theme will provide total musical immersion. This will be the world premiere of my new piece Salamander for flute octet. (Repeat performance in Vancouver in May 2013 by the Tempest Flute Ensemble.) More info about ECM is here.

Sunday, February 24, 2013, 7:30 pm, Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver – Vancouver Academy Orchestra with Joseph Elworthy and Ariel Barnes, solo cellists, present a concert which features the BC premiere of Aeromancy, concerto for two celli. This concert also includes the New World Symphony of Dvorák, and Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Die Meistersinger. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Friday, March 8, 2013, 8:00pm, Orpheum Annex, Vancouver – On the second night of Vancouver New Music’s Big Bang, Fringe Percussion performs a program of exceptional and varied percussion works by Harrison Birtwistle, John Cage, Carlos Chavez, and Lou Harrison. The program also features Darwin’s Walken Fish Quartet by Jocelyn Morlock. Originally commissioned by Vancouver New Music in 2006, the quartet arrangement was written for Fringe Percussion in 2008. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 8:00pm, Goldmark Hall, Mannes College, The New School For Music, New York, NY – Oboist Ron Mann and pianist Mike Stewart play works by York Bowen, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Camille Saint-Saëns and Joseph Schwantner. Ron is joined by guitarist Yutthasak Komjornkijborworn for a special New York premiere of Jocelyn Morlock’s ‘Verdigris’ (arranged for oboe and guitar.)
